let's get this party started

you know when you are invited to a birthday party and you are thinking...crap...i have to go...no way around it, i have to do it...you are a nice person, you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings...you don't make waves, you just do what you have to do...you go, you stand in the corner and smile...you play nice...you hate every minute of it, but you aren't there for you, now are you?

tonight i am going to a birthday party...and when i got the invitation, i said...

'oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!!!!!!'

cause it is NOT one of THOSE parties!!! it is a crop!!! whooohoooo! our generous, fearless leader trish at scrappin' good times decided there is only one way to celebrate her 40th...and that is to crop!!! yay for me!

now, i would love to stay and chat...but i have some scrapbooking to do!!!!

the babies

no, not really babies...but they will always be to me...for those that have asked, sydney is doing wonderfully! she has stolen our hearts...even after she has destroyed a whole shelf of vintage toys, eaten three vintage books, and teethed on the arm of one of our chaise loungers...yes, we still love her...and it could be a whole lot worse!

we go on daily walks and the dog park at least three times a week...twice we have a play date with a friends new gal...they always greet each other at the park and then go play with the other dogs, then check in with each other (aka bite each others ears) every once in a while...it is great fun!

max is missing from the picture...but that cat was probably off catching another lizard for mama...neat...

and, there is plenty of sissy loves to be had by all...no, the ears have not straightened out but we kinda like it that way...goofy dog...

vintage love

i'm not sure where it comes from, maybe i just have an 'old soul'...maybe i am just a sentimental, nostalgic person...maybe just a part of who i am...i was born with it...

this love of all things vintage...i see a vintage button or scrap of lace and i am all a flutter...giddy...just ask anyone, they'll tell ya...it's a little embarassing...

 

i added a few new things to this little shelf above my desk when i finally went through a box from an estate sale (i bought the junk drawer from the kitchen)...i found a few other vintage trinkets in the box with the scissors and pipe cleaners (called twisticks on the package)...so, of course, i had to use them on a card...

the button and clasp on the believe tag were in the box...the rest is all new stuff, made to look old of course!

the paper, bingo card, two small milk caps, buttons, and flowers are jenni bowlin...the label and larger milk cap image are me & my big ideas...qiuckutz scallop border and nesting label dies and SU! punch...i inked everything up with frayed burlap distress ink...

class the other night was fun, here are the cards we made...

cosmo cricket 'snorkel' + sunshine bazzill & silhouette machine + embroidery floss #743 & a needle + maya road ribbon + a button &  printed words = fabulous summer card

my mind's eye 'breaking free' + bazzill & silhouette machine + copic marker E43 + crepe paper and tickets + ribbon and creamy brown chalk ink + white gel pen & crystal stickles= my favorite card for a sweet person!

life is good

the copic class went great last night, it is such a blessing to be able to talk to a wonderful group of ladies about my beloved markers! inspiring others and teaching brings me such joy!

here are the cards from class...

we had fun coloring the surfboards and learning about shading and blending with just one marker, as well as continuing to practice blending with two colors.

the patterned paper is from the my mind's eye collection called 'breaking free'...the sentiments are SU! and the surfboards are denami design.

i am heading out of town...up to the mountains...with my bible study group, a great little retreat for a few days...i hope to come home connected and refreshed...

i have big plans for some everafter paper from cosmo cricket and lemonade paper from basic gray when i get home!

sneaky peeky

i have a copic class tonight at Scrappin' Good Times...it is the second set of classes, and i can't wait...what fun! yes, i do genuinely love these markers this much!!!

here is a sneak peek for you blog-pals...these cards will be the next class in sept/oct...we are building up that collection of markers slow but sure!!!

i will show you the full pictures of the cards we do tonight, tomorrow...the classes are really about technique...refining your blending and learning more about the markers...but we have to make somethin' purdy too, you know!
