i gave all of my students in last night's class an early Christmas gift...a sheet of die cuts from the 'Christmas Past' Collection from Graphic 45..these adorable tags were perfect for the vintage look cards i designed, and my hope is that each of them can make several more cards or tags to share with special people in their lives...here is what i did with some of the tags for class...

each card has some of the die cuts, seam binding, and one or more of the cute pearl florets...all papers were inked with walnut distress ink...

 

i used stampin' up!, bosskut, quickuts, and spellbinders dies for the background shapes...along with a couple of su! stamps with coordinating punches...

the 'joy' is from papertrey ink set 'snowflake serenade'...and this card shows how you can cut the die cut tags to serve your purpose...both the 'twas' tag and 'fireplace' tag had ends cut off...

after all of the cards were complete, i smeared them with antique linen distress stickles...i love the way this looks...like vintage glass glitter, it adds just the right touch to the cards...on this last one, i puddled glue onto the die cut snowflake (bosskut) and then used tweezers to invert it onto a pile of ms snow glitter...the glue dries clear leaving a beautiful and unique snowflake...i heart that too...

isn't that pocket watch die perfect for that die cut clock face? it is from spellbinders, and of course, i heart that too...

i promise i won't use 'i heart' for a very long time...i probably used up a whole years' months' worth in this post!

sharing the copic love

a friend sent me an email with a wonderful blog post praising my beloved copic markers...an amazing artist and wonderful woman has discovered them and is doing fabulous things with them...

yummy...copic style

another fabulous copic marker class...i am so passionate about the markers, i think i get a little too excited during class...we have a lot of fun and the ladies do wonderful work!

we played with red, and nobody cried!!! this was the first class where they had to stay in the lines, and they did beautifully!

we reviewed all of the blending techniques that we learned in the past three classes (two marker blending, single marker blending, blending with the blender and removing color)  as well as practicing three marker blending...we continued to learn about shading and learned how to pick up color from a marker with our blender pen...yes, we packed a whole lot into this class!

i so enjoy teaching these classes and sharing my love of copic markers!

i teach this class again on Dec 10 at SGT, i will post details and review some tips and tricks after that class!

potions and poisons

november...seriously? november? wow...i can't believe it...i am in denial, and plan on leaving my halloween decorations up a few days longer just so i don't freak out that thanksgiving is so close...which means christmas is just around the corner...that hurt...

a little bit more about those bottles and jars i showed you yesterday...

the images are found here and here as well as ms labels...i just printed them off onto different neutral card stocks and cut them out...

i then inked the labels with combinations of walnut, black soot, milled lavender, and painted shutters distress ink...then i adhered them to various jars and bottles with pva...

once the labels were on, i added fingerprints with the distress ink, smeared distress stickles in various colors and used copic markers to distress the corks and lids...

on a baby jar, i covered the jar lid with foil and inked it with copic marker re-inker...on another one, i used a prima flowers jar...i inked the silver lid with my black copic marker and rubbed it off with a paper towel...it looks like an old jar lid worn and distressed...

i tied lots of natural and colored jute on the jars and dripped some hot glue on to the jars...they look like well used ingredients...just love how they came out!

getting ready for another copic marker class at sgt tomorrow night...can't wait!

halloween fun

we had so much fun around here for halloween! chicka dressed as kat von d for the party she went to...she looked a little too good with all those tattoos...

and, i had some fun with potion and poison labels and vintage bottles...

they look so cool with my spell book! i filled a few of them, but still have to add colored water, etc to some for next year...now i will be on the lookout for a vintage medicine cabinet to display them in...

i hope you all had fun and got lotsa candy!
