happy birthday lil' peanut!

i'm not sure if i have ever mentioned how much i love copic markers before...have i????

hehe...oh, i guess i have! so, to reiterate...I LOVE COPIC MARKERS!!! and, teaching others about them and inspiring them to fall in love with them is such a complete joy!!

Copicjan

we had so much fun in tonight's copic class coloring this lil' peanut!!! the stamp image is from our craft lounge...so cute!!!

Copicjan2

this image was great to learn about shadowing on...and depth of color, how you can actually over blend something in a not so good way...to make him 'pop' it is best to not be too heavy with your saturation and really emphasize those shadows.

paper is scenic route 'surprise', images are our craft lounge 'lil' peanut', paper was inked up along the edges with prussian blue chalk ink

copics: W1, C1, C3, RV11, RV34, Y21, YR23, BG11, BG13, R29, R59, YR14, YR15

i wish everyday could be class day!! not only do i get to play with markers, but i also get to spend time with some wonderful students! thanks ladies, see you at copic cafe!!!

...and, i'm okay with that!!!  the hardest part for my new students is always relaxing...breathing...letting go and having fun coloring...

the beginners copic marker class at The Table was fabulous last night...i got to share my love and passion for copics once again!

Begincopics

this is the simple card kit that they receive...they will make it with some of the images i stamped for them...the class is mostly sharing all the tid bits about the markers and then setting them loose to play...i love to see what they do right out of the gate and then watch them improve over time...they do so great, and are so critical of themselves!...ultimately, they ALL fall in love with copic markers and their many, many possibilities!!!

paper is basic gray 'two scoops' line, our craft lounge 'mice friends' stamp set

copics: W1, RV11, RV34, YG63, YG67, Y21, YR23

happy coloring!

chelle

me, myself, and i...and, julie

did you notice the new profile picture? are you like me? not in many of the pictures? well...what does one do when a dear friend takes a picture that can possibly, maybe be construed as a good picture of you? you scrap it and use it on your facebook profile...and your typepad profile...we will never speak of it again...

007
and, don't expect to see more pictures of me...

Julienchelle
except this one...cause this is julie...the above mentioned sweet friend...that i adore...there, two pictures in one post of me...now i have to go find chocolate...

and, no, i am not going to explain the pink boas...

chelle

doing what you love

'love what you do, share what you love'...that is my personal motto when it comes to my jobs...what a blessing it is to be able to have two jobs that you really, honestly, truly, and deeply love...

i work at starbucks and i love it...i design and teach and love, love, love it...

yep...feeling pretty blessed!

Masonjar

one of the things that we are incorporating into the Copic Cafe (second wednesday of every month at The Scrappin Table) is an image exchange...the gals will bring along an image that they have stamped on neenah classic crest paper using a copic marker compatible ink (brilliance or memento are best) and we will swap.  I had a few images for the girls to choose from the other night to play with...this vase of flowers was one of them...they wanted to see me color it so this is what i came up with...of course, i had to make it into a card!!!

paper for the card is basic grey 'wisteria', stamp is karen lockart, sentiment is SU!copics: W1, BG10, YG13, YG93, YG99, Y26, YR20, B41, B45, V95, V99

each time we have Copic Cafe we will make a tag...like this one and this one...i wanted to show you how easy it is to make a tag into a card...

Sweetlove2

i used a white card base and added a coordinating card stock layer...that's it...you have a card instead of a tag!

i didn't give the details on the last post, so here they are...paper is pink paisley 'cupid' line, stamps are imaginisce, the wee heart is a MS punch, the scallop heart and bracket border at the bottom are accucut...all was inked up with walnut distress ink...

copics: W1, E43, E47, G40, R20, R22

i hope you are finding all the time you need to do all the wonderful things you do!

an explanation

Bottom drawer

Meaning

A place where valuables are stored, especially the clothes, linen, etc., that a woman might store in preparation for her marriage. Literally, the lowest drawer of a chest of drawers.

Origin

Bottom drawer"The figurative use of the term 'bottom drawer' to refer to the items that a woman stores in readiness for marriage began use in the 19th century. It was certainly in use in Cheshire by 1886, as this entry in Robert Holland's A glossary of words used in the county of Chester [Cheshire] shows:

"If a young woman were to buy a set of tea things, or a tablecloth, or what not, and were asked what use she had for such things, she would answer, 'Oh! they're to put in my bottom drawer.'"

It is odd that the similar phrase 'top drawer', which refers to items of the best quality and which also derives from a literal reference to the drawer of a cabinet, should be otherwise unrelated to 'bottom drawer'. We might imagine that if 'top drawer' is the best, then 'bottom drawer' would be the worst. It's not so, which amply demonstrates the difference between the literal and the metaphorical."

there you have it...i named the new website 'bottom drawer designs' because i am notorious for using this n that, old & new, shabby & classic...a variety...a mixture...the forgotten paper on the bottom of the rack is my favorite to pair with a brand new lovely embellishment to make something a little wonderful...

i thought of 'bottom drawer' as the last of the picks...the left overs...the unwanted...which of course, i want...and throw together in my designs...

however, i love this explanation that i found...it's actually the treasures!!! the best to savor for the future...so, the bottom drawer really is the good stuff!!! yay! cause i thought so all along!!!

Faithjournal

a new year means a new faith journal...that's what i call the notebook that i journal in when i need to, where i write prayer requests or things i want to remember to talk to God about...things i want to go back and recall...look at how things have changed and how those prayers were answered...any problems that i need to work through...it also ends up with directions, eye doctor recommendations, and notes from bible study...it pretty much is used for whatever i fancy...cause it's mine like that...

do you want one to write any little thing you want in??? well, you are soon to be very, very lucky then!!! cause...wait for it...this is just the thing that will be sold at bottom drawer designs...

some of you have been asking what it is all about...and, since we are approaching launch day (no set date...just working up to it!!!) i wanted to give you a little more information...it is a store of ready made crafts...and papercrafts...with a vintage feel...cause that's how i roll...

so, there is your update...a sneak peek...and an explanation, whether you wanted it or not!

happy weekend people!

chelle

from the bottom drawer:

jenny bolin papers & bingo card, making memories 'vintage findings' goodies, and a few vintage buttons and a doily...seam binding, cause everything i make ends up with some of that deliciousness eventually...everything was inked up with walnut distress ink...
