Christmas Cheer Card

hello folks!  i have another card i made for the Tim Holtz Holiday 2017 Inspiration Series.  check out Tim's instagram daily to see some incredible projects that are sure to inspire! also, he recaps all the deliciousness on his blog weekly, so hop on over there while you are at it!

i love this santa from the Christmas Classic set...he is so great to color and i love the holly detail.  i really love to add dimension with coloring even when it is a single layer.  i stamped all of the details in black archival ink then colored the images with distress markers. inking the edges last with broken china and iced spruce.

here is a closer look at the coloring...it's simple but gives plenty of depth and pop.

one of my favorite ways to add a vintage touch to my projects is to add silver or gold metallic kraft that i have rubbed over with steel wool...sometimes a lot, sometimes (like here) a little.  sandpaper is also a great way to give texture to the paper.  i love the way it looks as is or even inked with something like gathered twigs or walnut stain distress ink. here i made a rosette after i took the shine off.

to add a little more silver detail, i used a silver sharpie in my distress marker spritzer...you can see it there on the greenery. i finished off the cheer banner with the sharpie as well.

to finish off the card, i layered the image on more 'distressed' silver metallic paper then black...this is a card i can see duplicating for Christmas cards.

thank you for stopping it!
