birthday girl

it was my sister's birthday yesterday (happy birthday princess! i hope you had fun!)...we had a little party here for her...besides the 'cheesecake bar buffet' (as requested by the birthday girl) we had cupcake pops...oh so cute and delicious! i first saw this morslettes of deliciousness on  martha stewart and just knew i had to have them for her birthday! be sure to check out bakerella (her's are perfect and adorable...and so many ways to decorate them!)...

Nic pre-made the pops and then we all decorated them as an activity at the party...fun and provided lots of giggles!

the more imperfect they were, the yummier!

Cupcakepops

and, here is the base i made to hold them...styrofoam decorated in her favorite colors...

Cupcakething
i'm not sure if my 6 year old niece (the only kid there) had more fun or my sister's best friend...it was a blast!

today, we went to the happiest place on earth to continue the celebration...it was just a wee rainy which makes for short lines...we fit lots in to a small amount of time...fun...back to work tomorrow!

hope your week is great!

banana bliss

happy monday! the day started off...well, let's just say, not good...yeah, not good is a good way to put it since i don't want to use naughty language! i would think that any day that starts with dropping two drawers of money across the floor behind the registers at 4:30 a.m. landing coinage and bills everywhere, including into a drain and under cabinets would be a bad day...however, it has turned around...BIG TIME...what a lovely little day i am having now! there is no school today, so nic watched a movie, went for a walk, started her on-line driver's ed, is doing a few chores...hanging with mom...i am getting inspired by browsing some blogs, checking on some on-line Christmas gifts, baking some banana muffins and about to dive into my 'count-down-to-Christmas' album...it's a good day!

here are the muffins:

cookie plate pies

i had some apples that were not getting eaten, so i searched allrecipes.com for a new yummy apple recipe...the old stand-by apple cake and apple crisp was not gonna cut it, i was looking for something new...and, i found it!  i combined a few different recipes and came up with these little puppies...

Applepies
individual apple pies...deeeelicious!!!  they were so yummy! we ate some hot, then later (and for breakfast) cold...liked them both ways!  here's the recipe just in case you wanna give 'em a go!

INDIVIDUAL APPLE PIES

4 apples, peeled and diced
2 TBSP butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 can flaky biscuits

Heat oven to 350.

Melt butter in medium pan; add apples, sugar and cinnamon.  Cook until apples are tender (about 15 minutes). Mash the apple sauce as much or as little as you like (i left mine chunky).

Roll out each biscuit to about 6 inches and fill with 2 TBSP apple sauce.  Moisten the edge and fold over circle; seal edge with a fork.

Bake 15 minutes or until light golden brown (i baked mine on parchment paper).

Enjoy!!!

have a great day!

who stole the cookie from the cookie...plate???

so, most people probably have a cookie jar...but, we do things a wee bit different...we have a cookie plate...cause some cookies just don't work in a jar! and, most of the time, there are hardly any cookies left once they are baked...they either head out the door to work, school, or friends & family...the left overs...go on a vintage plate with a cake cover...that's how we do things in these here parts!

sunday i made these cookies...i had a lemon cake mix out to make a lemon bundt to take to our friend's house for a little bbq and football game viewing...well, i wasn't inspired and decided i wanted to make some cookies...these were fabulous! i added the zest and juice of two lemons in addition to the called for lemon extract to make them even more lemony...and a little less lemon fruit loops...we all agreed, we love them! and, if you are going to make 'em...bake for 10 min...that worked perfectly for me!

Lemoncookies
they didnt' last long here at all!!!

happy tuesday! hope your week has started off fabulously!!!
