happy autumn

can you believe that it is the last day of september????????? OMG!!! OCTOBER!!!!  for crying out loud!!!

despite my disbelief that it is fall...and, 100 degrees outside, i played with some new fall things from emma's paperie...i was inspired by the free kit that i got cause i spent so much money this company is so nice!  i really appreciate the extra time and thought they put into the wrapping, little gifts, and speedy shipping...they are a great company...go shop!!

a huge source of inspiration, encouragement, and joy in this creative crafting world is melissa phillips....this woman is amazing!! her creations bring me such joy, i cannot describe! her positive attitude and outlook on life just adds to the enjoyment of her blog...go see her!  she and wendy johnson  have a fun challenge together...use felt! i made this card for the challenge...i hope i did melissa a wee bit proud! thanks for the fun girls!

happy, happy, day folks!

memory box love

i have been wanting these stamps for like ever! i finally broke down...and, although the selection was smaller than when i first spotted them, i am really happy with my choices!  i just knew they would work for quick, simple, elegant cards...

the pp is memory box the winterberry was the perfect background for this stamping...i used three different stamps for the swirls and many possibilities!

i just adore the softness of this card! again the pp is from winterberry...i love just about every stinkin' thing about this card!

happy day!

wanna see somethin' scary???, really, are your ready?????  it's like REAL scary!! sure? okay, you asked for it...

I TOLD YOU!!!!!!!!!! SCARY!!!!!  yep, that's me...8 inches gone...gone, gone, gone...i did it two weeks ago and i am still afraid! i know i will get used to it...but, wow, what a HUGE difference! what makes me feel better is a) hair grows b) i was able to donate my hair to locks of love c) everyone but me thinks it's adorable...guess it's just me then, huh??!!!

alrighty...on with the REAL scary stuff...made this card for jen's sketch for you to try...

the pp and rub-ons are cosmo cricket...the cardstock is SU!'s new in-color red riding hood...the large front flower and two of the wee flowers were punched out of a printed acetate sheet...i used tea dye distress ink on all edges of pp and cs...the stitching and knots, etc are black embroidery that vintage button in the center of the big flower!  hope you like...

happy weekend!

this was a hard one...

...not the card itself, but the reason for it...i have been trying to work up enough courage to post this, knowing that tears would be streaming down my face...

my grandmother died on May 31, 1997...the day after my 26th birthday...this card is being sent to the home that cared for my grandmother for the remaining years of her life...where i was a stranger to heart broken and she unable to accept my love or care giving...

there is a wonderful person out there doing an amazing thing...cammie has not only donated 100% of the proceeds from the sale of her Whimsical Autumn set to the Alzheimer's Association , but she also has an amazing blog candy on her blog to encourage each and every one of us to send a thank you to those caring for Alzheimer’s patients...thank you cammie for this amazing effort on your have touched so many lives, mine included...

i know my grandmother is still with me, i know that i am who i am for having been loved by her...but, i still miss very much...

thank you to those that care for the loved ones in our lives that are suffering from this disease...and to those that have family members suffering or that have gone home to Jesus...have faith and hope...believe in the future where we have worked together to find meaningful treatment and a cure for this devastating disease....

In Loving Memory of Ruby Neilson,

trick or treat

still in the 'give me candy' is another halloween card i the spellbound collection from making memories!

quick and stamping! i used dimensionals to raise up the raven and the sentiment...which means i had to adhere them to cardstock first cause they are paper embellishments...this makes them sturdier...i used scrap floss for the bow and black SU cardstock...otherwise all the paper is making memories...

have a beautiful day!

haunting holiday

i heart is the whole fun, play dress up, fantasy thing...not the icky morbid stuff...the good ol' wholesome 'what are you going to be for halloween' thing...and, since i LOVE to dress up, i love having a job to dress up for! here is a picture of me as 'Sherl' last year...think mel's diner meets starbucks...

why, yes, i DID bedazzle my hat and apron!!! one of the best parts was the knee highs rolled down and the comfy old lady shoes i was wearing...i didn't sleep all night for fear of smashing that FABULOUS beehive of mine!! it came in really handy that my mom used to actually do these 'dos' back in the day! man did my head hurt and it too a long, long time to get it all washed out!

i haven't decided what i am dressing up as this year...many customers are asking that i bring back sheryl...apparently they liked being called 'hon' and 'sugar'!!!

here is a halloween card i made using some new stamps i picked up this week...i LOVE those ticket can stamp them on any color cardstock or pp and make them match any fantastic!

hope you got a good giggle at the outfit and enjoyed the card!
see ya tomorrow!

pp is vintage moon collection from pink paislee
SU! ivory confetti card stock, dimensionals, and glue dots
palette noir ink, distress ink in old paper
buttons from stash, ivory crochet thread, may arts ribbon, stamped swirls on blue paper is from memory box, circle halloween stamp is catslife press, tickets stamp is invoke arts (stamps came from my LSS)

who stole the cookie from the cookie...plate???

so, most people probably have a cookie jar...but, we do things a wee bit different...we have a cookie plate...cause some cookies just don't work in a jar! and, most of the time, there are hardly any cookies left once they are baked...they either head out the door to work, school, or friends & family...the left overs...go on a vintage plate with a cake cover...that's how we do things in these here parts!

sunday i made these cookies...i had a lemon cake mix out to make a lemon bundt to take to our friend's house for a little bbq and football game viewing...well, i wasn't inspired and decided i wanted to make some cookies...these were fabulous! i added the zest and juice of two lemons in addition to the called for lemon extract to make them even more lemony...and a little less lemon fruit loops...we all agreed, we love them! and, if you are going to make 'em...bake for 10 min...that worked perfectly for me!

they didnt' last long here at all!!!

happy tuesday! hope your week has started off fabulously!!!

absence makes the heart grow fonder...

...or so i hope...i have been working on a little project for our friends that traveled to the east coast with us...

i made an 8X8 album for is a fabulous book by WE R Memory Keepers...that tag is from all the great accessories i gathered from the travel collection by memory makers...all of the PP used and most of the accessories inside are from this are some pages:

title page, letters and numbers are quickutz...ribbons are from SU! retired in colors from a few years ago...

i used a lot of map pieces, some i distressed or wrote the look...

always my favorite when we travel to a different time, i would have LOVED to live in one...yes, really!

my second favorite...LOBSTER!!!!

and, of course moose!!

i always save everything when on a trip...and, i do mean EVERYTHING!!! see those water taxi tickets? sandy handed them to me and said "do you want these for your scrapbook?" funny thing, is that she was kinda makin' fun of me...well, joke's on her! cause i knew when she handed them to me that i was gonna use them in HER maybe she will 'get' why i save all that 'trash'!!

some pictures i hate to crop and think they stand alone...

the second to last page...a thank you for sharing the adventure with us page...

the final page is a pocket that i created to hold a few fun pictures that i didn't work into the album and cd's of all 500+ pictures that we took...that way they can print those off and store then however they normally do...i wanted to create this scrapbook for them as a thank you and to show them another way of sharing photos...but, i do want them to still be able to do what they normally do, whether that is uploading an online album or a standard photo album...they are their memories too after all!

i hope you enjoyed the album, it was fun to make...

enjoy your sunday, and i missed you even more than you missed me!!
