tag team

i hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! you didn't eat too much did you?

i opened this morning and let me tell you...those crazy (sorry if you are one of them) people that got up super duper early for the sales today were NOT happy campers getting their coffee at 4:30 am when we opened our doors!!! i get up at 3 am almost everyday for work, but for a sale???? no way!!!! a lot of women came to get coffee while leaving husbands in line for them!  and, know what happens when they thought that target opened at 5 only to discover that they weren't opening till 6????????? anger...and lots of it!!! these people wanted their coffee and wanted it NOW!!! too funny really!

my dear friend and i tag teamed the project i am showing you today...she did the quilting and i did the sewing...we did two so we both ended up with one...i am going to frame mine and i think she is going to make her's into a wall hanging...we have meant to make these for a few years now and i was just shy of getting my part done in time this year....but they should look beautiful hung up next year!

i hope you have a wonderful friday!

fulfilled, blessed, grateful...this here is a good life God is providing me...i am taking today to remember, joys/heartaches, and all...thankful...

i made this for my daughter...someday, she may want to know how i make this meal each year with love and joy for her and her father...i may not always be here, i wanted her to have my recipes and 'game plan' for my favorite meal to cook...

a few of the inside pages:

i plan to make notes, add recipes, etc. so my handwriting is included and it makes it personal...i did write a note to her in the back as well...

i am so happy to have the rest of the family coming this year for is usually just the three of us...i can't wait to serve my favorite meal of the year to my loved ones...

happy thanksgiving to you and may you always remember how blessed you are and live with a grateful heart...even when it is the hardest thing you can imagine doing...

God Bless,

i wish i may, i wish i might...

...have this wish...

i am not so sure how i did it, but i did...i am so a nerdy kinda way...

i have wanted a wonderful blog banner for so long! yay!!!

this digital scrapping thing could be kinda fun...if i can add a beautiful blog banner AND tabs, i can do ANYTHING...told you...nerd!  one of these days i MAY try my hand at an actual digital layout...until then, the blog update will have to do!

and, anyone that was visiting the blog while under construction, must have thought i was NUTS!!! :)

nothing to share, spent all my creating time on that thing up at the top! thank you smj for the fun!

organizational fun

yes, as a matter of fact, i DO consider organization fun!!

have you seen these tea samplers at starbucks?

Alphabox Alphaboxtea
well, when we first got them in, i knew immediately that i needed A LOT of them!!! i knew i wanted to gift a few to my tea drinking friends, and i knew they would be the perfect thing for an idea i have been formulating for a few weeks...

...i have several sets of quickutz alphabets and have tended to neglect them a bit...because they aren't convenient to just grab and use while making a project...i like grabbing things quickly as i work on, i had this idea that if i separated the sets into individual alphabets that i could grab, cut the die, and go...simplifying the searching through various sets to find is what i came up with...

i stamped the letters, numbers, etc. with collage alpha & numbers from SU! (retired) in palette burnt umber ink on the outsides...divided them all up and's a close up of one of the letter sections:

i also made a little chart to see the size/style of the sets i own for a quick reference...this will be mounted on the inside of the cabinet below the die cut machines and dies area in my room...

Alphaindex please note...the room for growth!!! hehe

while i am sharing this new organization idea, let me share another 'starbucks find' with you that is working wonderfully...i have up until now, housed my nestibilites in CD cases and it has worked okay...except that they tend to fall out of place and the CD cases are getting a lot of use so they don't open and close as well and tend to fall apart on me...i remembered seeing an idea about mounting the dies on the inside of a cabinet door and planned on doing something similar...

i tend to collect a few things in the store that we no longer use...kinda nerdy...i know...BUT, this one paid off BIG time!!! you know the boards that we have the promotional signs on behind the counters in the starbuck's stores? well, some of those signs are magnet sheets that we adhere to the signs and others are drawn on...when we are done with a promotion, we will throw away the magnet sheet signs...but not this time...cause i knew it would be perfect for this:

and, it was!!! you can buy magnets in sheets at craft stores as well, but i was happy to get this free!   it is mounted on the opposite door than the alpha index i mentioned above (which will just HAVE to be moved when i collect more nestibilities (how am i living without rectangles???????)...below my die is fabulous!!!!

well, there you have it! a few ideas for weekend organization...just in case you don't have enough to do!!! (just a thought, but how bout an organization tip every friday????? then you have the weekend to work on that project or be inspired to organize something in your room????? let me know what you think...they won't ALL be this long winded...i promise!!!!

happy friday/weekend!!!!

...this card has two things that i cherish...the word believe and butterflies...i am sending it along to someone with my heartfelt thoughts of healing and peace...i love you aunt sandy, and i am so very sorry for your loss...

the SCS challenge today was to use pearls...i knew right away that it would be perfect to make a special card for my aunt...i wanted something simple, sweet, and monochromatic...i love the way it turned out...the best cards seem to come of putting your whole heart into cooking...'add a little love'!

hope your thursday was grand and your (whooo hooo) friday is even grander!!!

PTI stamper's select cs; SU! close to cocoa ink, creamy caramel cs & ink (every little thing was sponged with this too), very vanilla taffeta ribbon, punches

MS pearls, bella brush stamp set is fancy pants

gifts of joy you ever have days where you have a chance to do the ordinary tasks of the day with a little bit of calmness? i spend so many days running from here to there, mostly tired, usually with a hurry up attitude that i don't have time to 'just be'...i want one of those hurry, i'll get there...eventually...gonna smell some roses along the way...

until that is a card i made for the color challenge on SCS today:

we were to use basic black, real red, & kraft; i also used PTI stampers select, white...santa and sentiment are from SU! 'gifts of joy' stamp set...i colored the jolly ol' guy with copics and cut him out with nextibilities along with the black border...added a may arts ribbon bow, black buttons from the stash and cut the sent with my oval SU! punch; i also embossed the red cs with the cuttlebug swiss dots folder then used the threading water edge punch from fiskars...

hope you take time to enjoy some simple details of your day!

monday saturday sketch for you to try

...well, i actually made the SFYTT card on sunday...but, the picture i took of it last night was here it is...

have i mentioned how much i ADORE cosmo cricket??? the paper is from the 'be good' it!  the snowflakes are MS punched and then added flaky glitter with crystal effects...also used it to glue on the buttons...the tree is from SU! year after year stamp set...i cut out the star, distressed it and glued over the stamped star...the red is tim holtz distress stickles in fired brick...sentiment is from SU! hlidays & wishes set...did a bit of sewing and tied the bow through the tag with SU! twine...card base is distressed mellow moss SU! cs...all edges are sponged with distress ink in antique linen...

hope you like! and, hope your monday is blessed!

25 days until christmas...

i want to thank ali edwards for this fabulous idea and inspiration! her december daily album is here for you to well as the fabulous album that mish did here...

i did do a wee bit more detail on my pages than ali and mish...i really think anything goes though! it was REALLY hard not to be all matchy-matchy with it, i would have loved to have done the entire book all cosmo cricket or daisy d's or my minds eye or making memories papers...but, in the end, i decided on various lines and am happy with the results!  it was fun to gather all the supplies and see what came of it...
