girl friday love on a tuesday

as promised (to myself) i did indeed play some more today...this time with cosmo cricket's line 'girl friday'...another of my all time favorites...

this stuff practically makes itself into something purdy!

a layout of my beautiful daughter when she was six...this is from her dancing days...she was a 'doll' in the stinkin' cute!

and, a lamp that i fancied up the shade of...the base was $5.99 at homegoods and the shade was a cheapy from target that was plain ivory paper...much better gussied up with my girl friday...this shall stay in my scrap room for all time...cause of course, i love it!

and, a little card for a sweet friend...

one more...this is a layout that i did a while back...but since it fit the theme...i had to re-share...that, and i can't resist another opportunity to share the hysterical pictures!!!

happy day to you!

earlybird love

i'm on a little vacay...from makin' coffee and being a mom...i have a week off from sbux and we dropped off nic in arizona for a week of volleyball on saturday...we will return to phoenix on wednesday afternoon, but till days are filled with creativity and relaxation...just what i needed!!!

so, what did i do today? i took the pup for a long walk, i cleaned the house (not too industriously though), and then...i played...with my current favorite paper...cosmo cricket's earlybird...

first up...a little something i picked up from the thrift store a while back...

the $5.95 wee chest of drawers before...and, after:

with a bit of patterned paper, ready-set-chip board, buttons, ribbon, tiny attacher, copics, ivory crochet thread, frayed burlap distress ink, and some is what you get!

be sure to click on the picture to see it up close and personal like...i am in love!

and, then, there are these...

a few cards that i 'threw' together with scraps from the case you didn't notice on the drawers, take a look here...i used copic markers to color some of the black and white images in the paper's a fun, neat trick for customizing papers...

and, finally, this:

again, using some of the scraps from the box...i made a tag for a jar of homemade corn salsa i made for the hostess of a bbq we are heading to on 4th of make the tag look more 'authenitic' (LOL) i punched out a half inch circle over a 1/4 inch circle punched in cardstock and adhered it over another 1/4 inch circle punched in my the look of this...

well, hope you enjoyed the results of my fun today...i have BIG plans to play some more tomorrow!

my husband my hero

he is kind
he is loving
he is giving
he is courageous
he is honorable
he is honest
he is strong
he is genuine
he is handsome
he is hard working
he is everything
he is my husband
he is my hero

and, i love him

this is the tag i tied to his first gift...a framed photo of him with our daughter on the lake at beech hill in maine last summer...

Maine and Boston Pictures 018
my a boat...adore these two human beings more than i could ever express...but, i shall try the whole rest of my life...

his second gift? a flat screen tv for the patio where he can relax with a cigar, a tall glass of iced tea (or, a beer if he chooses) and watch a game in the cool breeze...with his mutt...and relax...if any one deserves to just sit and relax, it is this man...i hope he likes it...i know he will...

happy father's day to all your husbands, fathers, sons, brothers...and any other special men in your life (cause i assume there aren't many men visiting this little ol' blog of mine)...

happy birthday

class on thursday night was a blast! we made four birthday cards...each unique and lovely in it's own right...there was fun to be had by all...

graphic 45 fashionista papers, my favorite things stamps, copic markers, vintage photo distress ink...we paper pieced the dress...sweet and simple...

basic grey mellow and perifery papers, SU! sentiment, cuttlebug emboss folders, nestibilities, vintage distress ink...elegant and classic, an example of how you can put papers of different lines together beautifully...

making memories flower patch papers, SU! sentiment, EK success border punch, silhouette, crepe paper, white opal perfect pearls...a very sweet card...

cosmo cricket papers, PTI sentiment, silhouette, vintage distress ink...put together with some fun embellishments: adorable....and, my favorite (shhhh, don't tell the others!)...

did i mention, we have the best students EVER at SGT???!!!! they make teaching (already a joy) such a fabulous 'job'!!!!!

rebel with a cause

she may be adorable, she may have the most adorable ears on the planet, she may even have the most gorgeous, golden eyes in all the land...

but she' s a brat!!! a wonderful, crazy, adorable, brat!!! so sitnkin' naughty!!

yep...that's my girl...on her dog bed...the dog bed that belongs on the patio...where the blanket still is...the pretty princess likes her beds where she likes her beds...pretty much in the wide, she drags them there...and then has a little lay down...

lest you think that she discriminates between outdoor and indoor beds...she does not...she drags her bedroom bed out the doggie door (no small feat) and then lays poolside on it...that is, when she is not on her absolute favorite already poolside bed...

and, then there is the enabler...yeah, that blond of mine that lets her on my couch...another favorite bed of hers...

hope your weekend is fantastic!!!!

my hero

there is a man that once lived on this earth that had incredible peace and amazing passion for life.

this man was not among us long enough...51 years...not enough at all...

i miss him

i was incredibly blessed to have had him come back into my life as an adult (he did not raise me) for two years...two very wonderful, short years...just when i needed him to be there...he was...

i taught this framed collage last night at scrappin' good some fabulous women, thank you girls!

here it is closer and without the frame (which was sanded and inked with walnut distress ink)...

i used lots of my fabulous tim holtz products on this class...the die cuts are spellbinders dies and grungepaper...LOVE that stuff!!! all was inked with the walnut distress ink, the grunge paper was inked with creamy brown catseye chalk ink first...the dark brown piece is embossed with a cuttlebug the top left corner you see a piece of cardstock stamped with a prima background die-newsprint...on the right, peaking through, you see where we placed a tim holtz mini mask on a vintage dictionary page before inking it...LOVE THAT! to disneyland with chicka to celebrate the end of the school year...she is a junior now...oh wow!  and, today is my 9 year anniversary married to the hubster...our first date was 14 years ago today!!!

bye for now!

when tomorrow becomes next week

yes, i am alive

no, i do not have any excuses...good or bad ones...just life...i am here now, that, i hope is enough...

i did do some playing with my beloved cosmo cricket 'snorkel' paper in my absence...

this little cutie is my niece...samie as i call her...donna samantha turned 7 a week or so ago...this was her 5th birthday...i gave her that swim suit, which she put to immediate sitnkin' cute!

for those that have patiently waited for the copic it is...

favorite paper: classic crest solar white (this is what i played with at my certification class, and i like it!) and PTI stampers select cardstock

favorite ink: brilliant graphite black or memento tuxedo black...i do not heat set either with great results...if you are heavy with your saturation, i recommend the later (never, ever use staz-on, other than that, test your ink for bleeding...i do not emboss, but have heard of others doing so)

favorite websites for information and inspiration are:
mish mash (gorgeous coloring and amazing idears...yes, i meant to say idears and not ideas)
thinking inking (unbelievably talented woman!!!)
paperfections (very, very informative...and inspirational! here is the copic info page with the color chart: paperfection copic information)
ilikemarkers (THE woman...amazing...and AMAZING!!!...she certified me)

that should keep you busy for a while!!

thank you for your patience...i'm pretty sure i am back and ready to create some eye candy for you!
